Monica (Sims) Lewis is an accomplished educator with over 17 years of experience in education starting from teaching in her 5th grade classroom on the South Side of Chicago to now writing and designing national curriculum to improve literacy skills for our early learners.  Improving student achievement and attending to their complete being is a part of Monica's overall ministry in teaching. Her vast experiences with children and schools across the nation have helped her to cultivate best practices to enhance student learning and share those ideas with fellow educators who are seeking to impact change.

 

The mission of Education Catalyst for Change was birthed through the strong desire to promote the promise of education as a civil right in public school systems by creating a framework of educational leadership within schools that improves teaching, learning and retention for educators and students of color.  Through mentorship, coaching and engaging in systemic change; Education Catalyst for Change seeks to attract people of color to education by offering ongoing support that helps teachers thrive in their professions while improving student learning.
